Sometimes you need to plan for a shoot, sometimes you need to travel to get the photographs you want, occasionally things happen nearby. Today I was woken up by hot air balloons fly a few metres above my flat.
I decided to forgo my morning coffee and just grab my camera. I was thankful to my past self for charging the batteries and clearing the cards so all I needed to do was pick it up and go. Bleary-eyed, I stepped out of my flat and after a couple of paces…
The balloons were landing on The Bristol Downs which is conveniently at the end of my road. People, myself included, were gathering to watch the landings. It seemed to cause the balloons some difficulty in finding a safe place to land, shouts came raining down, politely asking us to not stand underneath them… it seemed fair…
It’s quite rare for me to be happy about being woken up before my alarm, on this occasion I was.
I’m a freelance photographer based in Bristol, UK but I travel around quite a lot. I’m especially interested in Star Trails, Landscapes, Seascapes and Wildlife photography.
I shoot on a Canon 5D Mark IV with a Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM or 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM.
As well as a photographer I'm also a Lighting Designer with a leaning towards the music industry.
